Noon's Reaction to Luka's Laker Debut

The spectacle of the basketball world tuned in last night to Luka Doncic's Hollywood moment.

Before we get into this Luka debut, we just dropped our 12th YouTube video.

Yeah 12! We have been cooking posting weekly since the start of 2025. Go check out our latest hoop mini doc

This is Gonna Be Fun

Man I will preface this by saying I have not been this excited for a regular season game in a long time. And anyone who loves basketball should have felt the same way.

LeBron James and Luka Doncic on the court together. I cannot believe they really gave Bron another Bron.

Undoubtedly it was a great move for the Lakers the future is now. But questions will linger about their fit for the rest of the season. The bad the good but tonight was definitely the good.

While we did not see much of a two man game between Luka and Bron having two high level creators on the floor was impossible to ignore.

The ever pulling gravity of both stars created limitless opportunities for teammates. Yeah it was against the Jazz but come on that was too much fun.

An Ever Shifting Golden Hydra

Yes LeBron and Luka were unstoppable tonight. Not through traditional means of bucket getting but just by existing on the court.

This one was over early with 72 points in the first half as they easily handled the rebuilding Jazz.

But it was not LeBron or Luka who led at halftime. It was Austin Reaves the third head of the snake and a real time bucket getter.

Reaves is going to have the third best defender on him with LeBron and Luka out there and the rising scorer will feast off that.

Coming off a 47 point game Reaves will continue to reward the Lakers for keeping him at the deadline. If there is an X factor for this team it is the cerebral Oklahoma product.

The Resurgence of Lakers Role Players

Before Anthony Davis was traded, he did a sit-down interview with Shams Charania, where he described a scene in which the Lakers weren’t built correctly and needed a five, essentially saying the team lacked talent.

Earlier this season, that sentiment was echoed by LeBron James and head coach JJ Redick.

But something has shifted.

Gabe Vincent is looking like his South Beach self again, knocking down shots and providing steady play.

Rui has caught fire, going on one of the best offensive stretches of his career. Vando is back and giving the Lakers everything they need defensively. Hayes is embracing his expanded role. And we’ll touch on this more later, but—Jordan f’ing Goodwin.

The Pragmatic JJ Redick

A rookie head coach has never had this much talent in front of him—while also dealing with such an oddly constructed roster.

The role players are balling, but the fit remains clunky, and the glaring hole at center is hard to ignore.

Still, JJ has navigated it all like an X-wing fighter against the Death Star. The Lakers are the hottest team in the NBA, even through stretches without AD or LeBron.

This team just keeps winning, and not enough praise can go toward the job JJ has done. A true problem solver and puzzle master, his lineups and game control have been nothing short of genius.

That’s six in a row for the purple and gold—and I wouldn’t be surprised if they enter the All-Star break with another W.

Man Who is Jordan Goodwin?

Casuals beware Jordan Goodwin is here.

The Saint Louis product who has bounced around the league is now playing the best basketball of his life in an ever expanding role.

He made great use of his opportunity against the Pacers showing his dynamic defense rebounding and midrange pyrotechnics. Tonight he got an even bigger role and again Goodwin answered.

Seventeen points on eight for eleven shooting off the bench.

Everyone loves a role player who makes the most of his minutes. Look for JJ and the Lakers to keep giving Goodwin more chances to contribute.

The Insatiable Appetite of LeBron James

LeBron is just different.

It is crazy how good he has been during this Lakers winning stretch. The moment they traded for Luka a new focus came over him.

Maybe it is the excitement of mentoring his favorite young player. Maybe it is the subtle front office message that this is no longer his team.

Neither really matters because in his fortieth year on this earth LeBron James has reached another level.

He is playing defense like he is twenty eight still giving teams twenty plus a night and finding ways to be less and less reliant yet somehow he is still the most relied upon player on this team.
